Having caught up with Glaswegian tearaways Sweaty Palms earlier in the year (read TMR Talks To...Sweaty Palms here), we were more than a little excited to discover their abrasive new cut ‘La Peste’. After a bit of a line up rejig, the now quintet's first release since their dynamite debut album Quit Now delves bravely into darker territory opening with a taunting bass line, before echoing the grating metallic scrapes of The Birthday Party's iconic 1982 track 'Junkyard'. Written last minute before heading into the studio to record, 'La Peste' is a triumph, capturing Sweaty Palms' spontaneous raw energy without over-working it. Listen here now. -Holly Mullineaux
